"For foreigners, searching a new apartment in Japan is always a headache and can be annoying sometimes, even when you speak good japanese. And from what i've heard from my japanese friends, even for japanese people is troublesome.
After eight years in Japan i knew that and when i decided to move to a new place i thought it was going to be lot of trouble again, but the guys at hikari homes did a very good job helping me to find a place i liked. Im not an easy customer as im very picky, but still they had the patience for listening to all my requests, and finally when we found the right place they took care of all the paperwork and negotiation necessary to get the best deal. And even after moving in, they make sure of assist you in all you need, even talking with utilities companies so you dont have to deal with all the phone calls and stuff, that was a great help for me. And no, they dont try to charge you more for those extra services.
Also they make you feel very comfortable talking with them, not like most of agents where you walk in and they look and talk to you as you were from Mars. And no, they dont ask you where did you park your spacecraft.

I had been to three different companies and none of them had given a hassle free and great assistance like that of Manabu from Hikari Homes. Manabu is not only fluent in English, he is also very approachable and accommodating. Homes. Harada-san, it turns out, is terrific at his job -- friendly,
reliable, industrious. On my behalf, he worked quickly and honestly,
showing me to just the sort of apartments I was interested in seeing.
When minor problems came up, Harada-san found easy solutions. When a
wire transfer to the property owner didn't go through, Harada-san
called the bank and made it work. Not once did the process feel
overwhelming or stressful. And eventually, I ended up with a great
apartment -- and four months of free rent.

I don't anticipate moving again while I live in Tokyo, but if I do,
I'll take a more direct approach to my apartment hunt: I'll call
Harada-san from the get-go. That's a strategy I would advise for
anybody.

When I first arrived in Tokyo I contacted 3 real estate agencies to help me find an apartment. Taka san from Hikari Homes definitely was by far the best. On the same day I met with Taka san:

- we went through the list of apartments that matched my requirements- I was able to visit all of them- made a reservation for the one I wanted.

Taka san took care of all the administrative work and even made all arrangements with Gas, water and electricity company before I moved in.

Walking into a Real Estate Agency in Japan can be intimidating, even when you
speak the language fluently. A lot of times when you walk into a Real Estate
agency in Japan, you get the "where is he/she going?" "hmm gaijin, wonder if

Even after living in Japan for 4 years I knew that dealing with Japanese real estate agents could be a potential nightmare if I tried to stumble through it with my only passable Nihongo. Kaz Harada at Hikari Tokyo Apartments was the perfect solution. Of course, you should first read a bit about "culture shock" and watch "Lost in translation" again but

Foreigners coming to Japan, I will be honest with you.
Finding an apartment, by yourself, in Japan is (to me) impossible. The language and how the system functions are 2 huge unknowns for you as you won't be able to understand a lot of things, but also for any landlord
as it will be hard for them to trust you.

However, take a deep breath as there is a solution: Don't think you're smarter, don't think you will be able to find the best deal by yourself. Don't put all that responsability on you.
Just contact Harada-san, here at Hikari Home...and your worries are over, I mean a part of it ;-)
His english is perfect. He is both a very kind family man but also a very professional real estate agent. He's completely devoted to his work. He is honest.
He answers very fast to any request and he took care of everything for me in this apartment hunt.

The appartement hunt was getting frustrating: week after week meeting with agencies, searching the web, filling out complicated forms and looking at appartement that were ok, but never just right. Apartment hunting in Tokyo can be a real ordeal, especially if you don't

As a new foreigner in Tokyo, with plans to stay long term, I wanted access to the "real" Tokyo apartment system instead of the typical, and limited, foreigner options. Hikari fulfilled this desire wonderfully. My agent was the great, and quite funny, Kaz Harada. Kaz took me to see multiple apartments on at least three different occasions, guided me through all of the paper work, and even set up my utilities and internet once I finally found a place. Kaz was always quick to respond to messages and phone calls, and was truly an enjoyable person to work with. If you want an apartment in Tokyo, but haven't been sure who to trust, stop looking, you've found the place.

It is the third time I’m moving within Tokyo and this last one is the easier and faster I did. Kaz has been pro-reactive to my email posted on the internet. On the same day Kaz called me and then we met 2 days after so for him to understand what I’m looking for. After 4 days of investigation on his side he came with 10 proposals and we selected 4 of them. The first visit was the apartment I’m now in! Even the area I was looking for was not in the usual area where Kaz is having his clients he did find the right apartment!　Kaz has been very friendly during the time we spend together but remained very professional in his attention to my comfort and even advice me for insurance and internet solution. I 1st heard of Hikari Home from a friend and was recommended to them and that I should try them out. I emailed them to try and talk to a rep and thats when I 1st came into contact with Kaz-san. He asked me for a list of things I am looking for in a apartment and my ideal location in Tokyo. After that all I did was sit back and worry about getting my stuff together for the big move to Japan! We kept in contact from the time I emailed him to the time I was getting ready to move out to Tokyo and he sent me a few places that matched my long list. Once I got here he was the 1st person I met and even more friendly in person! Right away he tended to my temporary apartment knowing that I needed a place to stay until I got my apartment. He then showed me a few apartments and also showed me around the town which I thought was nice. Everytime we would jump on a train or even walking somewhere we always had really great converstaions!

After many months of online research and trying to find housing in Japan I was lucky enough to meet Kaz-san of Hikari homes. I had sent out inquiries to numerous other
