I have lived in Tokyo now for 8 months and did not have much luck in finding a place I have been 100% happy with until now. I came across an ad on the internet about several apartments for rent that were ``Gaijen Friendly`` and did not require so many payments up front such as key money, agent fee, deposit and guarantor. When I ran across the Hikari Homes Inc. Real Estate Agency advertisement, I immediately inquired about one apartment I thought I would be interested in seeing. However, when I called, I spoke to a very kind and helpful gentleman named Kaz Harada. Kaz really helped me and offered to view 3 apartments that were within my monthly budget and in my ideal location. He worked hard and was very professional the entire time. I am extremely grateful for his help and patience too. "Yes, it is difficult to find an apartment in Tokyo when you are not Japanese. It is way more easier when you deal with the best real estate agent in town. Kaz helped us from day one until we got the keys. Before that, we visited together about 30 different apartments. All of them were awesome. I must say Kaz quickly understood what we were looking for.

Once we made our decision - which was not the easiest part - he succeeded in getting us two months free rent and some other benefits. He worked very hard for us, that's for sure, even on his day off he called to update me. We really had the feeling to be his unique customer, which was obviously not the case. Then, he eventually called the electricity, gas and water company for us. I am telling you, the man is an angel and a formidable negotiator !
In addition to that, we spent really good times talking together and I hope I'll be able to meet him again in other circumstances.

I was really desperate when I was looking for an apartment company and most companies have lots of problem and wasn't really helpful. I found this apartment company by chance and met Kato-san ,who was very kind and professional . My move to Tokyo from Bombay, India, was quite sudden and unexpected. I had just a little over a month's notice to pack my bags and join the new office. I didn't know any Japanese. Before arriving at Hikari’s office I toyed with the idea to just renew the lease contract for the apartment I was living in at that time. Now I am glad that I didn’t and instead went to Hikari Homes. Right after I set my preferences Kaz surprised me with an apartment that didn’t match with my main criterias. However I was thrilled by the architecture of the building and thus was keen to go and have a look. Long story short, I put down an application immediately after I saw it and already feel at home whilst I am writing these lines. Kaz, thanks for everything. Keep up the good work!

Finding the appropriate apartment in Japan can be mazy, especially when you've just arrived and don't speak Japanese. I don't. However, surfing the internet I've found a property maintained by Hikari Home and asked information about that. On the very same day Kato-san contacted me, asked a lot of questions concerning my needs and offered me an appointment to show me some candidates.. The end of the story is of course that I've found my apartment with just the conditions I've asked for. Kato-san can understand your requirements and try to fulfill all of them. He is very kind, speaks English fluently and - what is very important for me - answers all of my e-mails promptly, as soon as possible, even on weekends. And that's not all about it. If you have questions he tries to help you anytime in everything even after you've found your apartment and arranged all of the paperwork.
I do not know anything about other companies, but finding an apartment with Hikari Home is a safe choice. Kato-san was a great help, thank you so much! Laszlo
