Finding an apartment, by yourself, in Japan is (to me) impossible. The language and how the system functions are 2 huge unknowns for you as you won't be able to understand a lot of things, but also for any landlord
as it will be hard for them to trust you.

However, take a deep breath as there is a solution: Don't think you're smarter, don't think you will be able to find the best deal by yourself. Don't put all that responsability on you.
Just contact Harada-san, here at Hikari Home...and your worries are over, I mean a part of it ;-)
His english is perfect. He is both a very kind family man but also a very professional real estate agent. He's completely devoted to his work. He is honest.
He answers very fast to any request and he took care of everything for me in this apartment hunt.

Renting an apartment in Japan is very hard for foreigners. Or at east, that's what I thought. But Kato san really made it so much easier. Each week, he drove me around to a range of places that matched my long list of specific

very kind, very patient and very helpful.

Most importantly, I really felt I could trust him, so I felt much more relaxed

"Yes, it is difficult to find an apartment in Tokyo when you are not Japanese. It is way more easier when you deal with the best real estate agent in town. Kaz helped us from day one until we got the keys. Before that, we visited together about 30 different apartments. All of them were awesome. I must say Kaz quickly understood what we were looking for.

Once we made our decision - which was not the easiest part - he succeeded in getting us two months free rent and some other benefits. He worked very hard for us, that's for sure, even on his day off he called to update me. We really had the feeling to be his unique customer, which was obviously not the case. Then, he eventually called the electricity, gas and water company for us. I am telling you, the man is an angel and a formidable negotiator !

Finding the appropriate apartment in Japan can be mazy, especially when you've just arrived and don't speak Japanese. I don't. However, surfing the internet I've found a property maintained by Hikari Home and asked information about that. Having lived in Tokyo before, I know how difficult it can be to find a place that fits one's budget. I had never heard if Hikari Home before, but their web-site was well constructed and easy to use and provided an array of choices for search results.
